Summer Synchronized Swimming Coach
Job Description
This role is perfect for an energetic, safety-conscious individual who loves the water and enjoys mentoring young athletes. A summer synchronized swimming (artistic swimming) coach focuses on building foundational skills, choreographing routines, and fostering a fun, inclusive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruction & Skill Development: Teach fundamental artistic swimming techniques, including sculling, body positions, and transitions
- Choreography: Design and teach age-appropriate routines for individuals, duets, and teams set to music
- Safety & Supervision: Maintain a safe environment by adhering to all pool safety protocols and monitoring athletes closely during deep-water maneuvers
- Show Coordination: Organize an end-of-season show
- Motivation: Foster a positive team culture that encourages sportsmanship, confidence, and creative expression
Qualifications
- Previous experience in synchronized swimming (as a competitor or coach) is highly preferred
- Strong swimming ability, basic musicality (for counting beats), and excellent communication with children and parents
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate skills in the water
- Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods on a pool deck
- Capacity to project your voice over music and splashing
Season and Schedule
- Season length: late June through early August
- Practices: weekdays, mid-day
- Season Show: early August, weekend
Compensation
- Salaried position, DOE
- Normandy Park Swim Club Membership for the 2026 season

Reports to Normandy Park Swim Club Board
Program Goal
Provide a fun, safe, and development-focused introduction to synchronized swimming where swimmers build confidence, learn fundamentals, and enjoy a positive summer team experience.
